Yellow Rock Beach – King Island Accommodation
King Island is blessed with an absolutely wonderful coastline and the great thing about this marvellous coastline is that it’s mostly deserted, leaving the would-be beach-comber to explore miles and miles of beautiful shores in solitude, solace and peace.
Amazing rocky cliffs, some with gullies flowing with fresh water, and colourful vegetation growing along their sides heading down to the beach then into the ocean, while other areas of coastline show off beautiful golden sandy beaches like the one displayed in the photo – Yellow Rock Beach on Phoques Bay.
What makes it so worth-while is that the beach is so pristine and it seems that these golden shores are endless, that you could walk forever. You can walk past what is left of the wreck of the paddle steamer The Shannon which was driven ashore in 1906.
